Furthermore, because flagpoles must withstand forces which apply
mostly along its length, it is important that the glass fabric be
made up of strands which are unbroken from the bottom to the very
top of the flag-pole. (The only exception is for flagpoles which
include a vandal-proof, lockable door to access the internal halyard.
In this case, the hatch-door is reinforced by several additional layers
of composite applied on more than one meter below and above the opening.)
